As an interior designer, my visits to Milano Design Week are always a source of abundant information and inspiration. This event is not just about the latest trends or cutting-edge products; it’s about understanding the heartbeat of design—what's new, what matters, and why it shapes our lives now and in the future. Each visit deepens my understanding of how design flows through our homes and reflects broader cultural shifts.

To document my experiences and insights of Milano Design Week I've taken thousands of images trying to capture the essence of this year’s trends in furniture, kitchens, and bathrooms. I've already shown them to multiple groups of keen designers and students of design, but I’m excited now to be sharing this content again as a free downloadable e-book that recaps my highlights with a selection of inspiring images. In Brief:
Colour Inspiration - While muted blues and greens set a calming backdrop, it was the rich ochre reds and warm oranges that truly stole the show. These warm, earthy tones invite a sense of comfort and coziness, making them perfect for creating inviting spaces.
Material Matters - Natural stones and porcelain surfaces are leading the way, beautifully emulating the elegance of veined marbles. Light-colored timber continues to grace our interiors, but I observed a notable emergence of deeper chocolate hues that add richness and depth.
Textural Trends - Vertical linear patterns have emerged as strong contenders, appearing across both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
Quality Over Quantity - There is a growing preference for organic materials and environmentally sourced resources, reflecting a collective consciousness toward sustainability in design.
Looking ahead to April 2025, Milano Design Week promises even greater displays of furniture and decor, with a special focus on office furniture and lighting. If you’re considering a visit to this iconic event, my advice is to start planning now. Booking early not only ensures you access the best prices but also secures comfortable accommodation in this crazy bustling city.
