An exciting part of the selection process, when I’m working with clients or builders is of course putting all of the finishes together. In this case it was our own house, therefore a very personal project. I knew that the white walls would make a very good background for all the other finishes, like the the beautiful breeze-blocks, the stones for the blade wall, the roof colour and the black of frame of the windows.
The roof-colour I selected is the brand new BlueGum by Colorbond and the wall-colour is Ghosting by Taubmans. For the elegant Hume front doors I needed to pick the right yellow that would work with these selections, stand out but not steal the show. I already had some yellows that I loved, but I also wanted to play with a few different options, so I got the Coloursmith Reader to good use and scanned a few objects I had in the studio, as well as right inside a frangipane flower.
Sandro and I have a great art collection. We narrowed down which painting we wanted to put in the entry foyer, so I scanned a yellow out of that artwork as well, to give me another option to choose from... Ultimately, creating colours with the Reader is great fun and it doesn't cost a cent.
Throught the Coloursmith app I ordered paint samples and created swatches to choose from... I am truly happy with the results. We called this new colour Umina Springs, perfect for outdoor applications and is now available in all Taubmans' sales points, if you too want to use it.
You too can create your unique colour just by placing the Coloursmith Reader on top of the surface that you want to match... That's how I've achieved the perfect entry door for my Palm Springs inspired renovation, and I'm thrilled with the results!!
